House Passes SCHIP Expansion
Well, that’s the first step to passing this ridiculous tobacco tax. Yes, yes, all the children need health care, but how about finding a different way to pay for it. Tobacco did not cause all of the health related illnesses of America’s children. Hey, maybe we get McDonalds and Burger King to subsidize the health plan?
Anyway, according to the Associate Press, the bill passed by a narrow margin in the House. Though, sources say, not by a large enough margin to override the veto should the bill pass the Senate. We’ll see. The bill is expected to pass through the Senate easily and quickly.

Also, in another article, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell says that if the tobacco tax does not pass through the proposed SCHIP legislation, then we should expect to see it again in the future for something else. The fight’s nowhere near to being over!
