SCHIP II

Well, it’s back!!  I told you it wouldn’t be long.  The Democrats have resubmitted an apparently revised bill that was supposed to address the Republican concerns with the first bill.  According to the House Republican Conference “the new bill does not ensure poor kids are covered by SCHIP first before adults, illegal immigrants, wealthier families or kids who already have private health insurance.”

This resubmission has already been submitted and has passed the House vote. As expected, the Senate will almost definitely pass this as well. The President has promised to veto this bill as well, contending that it does not address the proper focuses that should be addressed, and according to some sources, that the tobacco tax hike shouldn’t be the way to pay for it. If true, that’s pretty good news as it might finally lend itself to the Dems finding a new way to pay for it that would be fair and equal.

Everyone needs to contact their legislators and voice their opinions on this issue!!
