Texas Cigar Merchants Association (TXCMA)
I was talking to my local tobacconist the other day and we were discussing Cigar Rights of America and how it’s a great organization for disseminating information about cigar and tobacco legislation. This, of course, led to more local discussion about cigar taxes, non-smoking ordinance and the like. He then told me that he was a member of the TXCMA, or Texas Cigar Merchants Association, which is an organization of Texas cigar stores pulling together to fight state legislation that affect the local cigar industry.
I haven’t been able to garner much information beyond what’s available on their website, but it’s very new only having been created last year in 2008. The TXCMA is led by president Tiffany Rumbo, co-owner of San Antonio’s Club Humidor. It’s a non-profit organization and they use the network of cigar merchant to exchange information quickly and use their collective strength to fight the actions of state legislators who are looking to place stricter smoking regulations in place.
Anyway, I figure since I hadn’t heard of them, then there may be others out there who haven’t heard of them. So, if you’re in Texas, then you’ve got local help fighting to protect your rights. If you’re not in Texas, then I urge you to look and see if your state has a similar group. And, if they don’t, why not help in getting one started?

I’ll look into seeing if Colorado has anything like this. And if not I’ll bring the idea to the managers at a couple of B&M’s Thanks for the info.
Hi Ricky, I’m the new media coordinator for TXCMA, so if you have any questions let me know!
