Guest Review – Rocky Patel – The Edge

Okay, for the Saturday winner of the Guest Review Contest, we’ve got Stephen P. giving us his descriptive account of Rocky Patel’s most popular cigar.  Congratulations to Stephen for winning the second 5-pack of La Flor Dominicana Macheteros.

Keep your eyes peeled as we’ll be bringing you another contest here soon!!

The Rocky Patel the Edge has become a maintsay in humidors everywhere. It is understandable why.  A very powerful 5×48 torpedo with a perfect wrapper that looks like a nice dark chocolate.  Made with a Costa Rican wrapper and Nicaruguan filler it is truly a great smoke.  It imparts great flavors throughout.  The flavors range from slight hints of chocolate to leather. The first quarter of the cigar has a cocoa flavor with undertones of leather and spice that never leave.  Next, the flavors begin to change into a slight nuttiness with some coffee and spice undertones.  The third quarter of this finely made cigar starts imparting more spice but is never overwhelming.  Upon nearing the finish it turns to a very black peppery flavor with some hints of the previously noted leather.  A perfectly balanced cigar that takes about 45 minutes to smoke and can only get better with age.  This is a perfect smoke for any smoker, new or seasoned. ~ Stephen P.

  1. Thanks allot for the contest—Very Nice Contest Ricky–Paul

  2. Nice review..

I’m a fan of both the maduro and corojo wrappers…but prefer the toro to torpedo size. Good strength…doesn’t make me sick but definitely packs a punch, and has great all around flavor.

Kind of that stereotypical classic cigar taste.

  3. In all honesty: I love my Rocky P’s. For me it is the Rocky Patel Sun Grown Junior. The taste and the draw is great and they are not that expensive. Really good to enjoy myself.
