Cigar Review: Ashton Virgin Sungrown Belicoso #1
I was informed today, that I was chosen as the newest addition of reviewers to Cigar Command. In celebration, I smoked an Ashton Virgin Sungrown Belicoso #1. I have also decided that this was going to be my first review for the readers of Cigar Command, so here we go!
Construction: As I looked at this cigar, I was nothing but impressed with the construction. The rolling was perfect, the foot was straight, and the cap was a perfect point at the end.
Pre-Light: I took the cigar along my nose, and got some nice spice, along with a few floral notes and sweetness. I clipped the tip of the cigar with my trusty Palio cutter, which never fails to deliver a perfect cut. I took a pre-light draw, and found that the draw was not too tight, but not too loose either. It was just about perfect.

1/3: As I lit this cigar, I was excited. Its been a LONG time since I’ve had the pleasure of smoking a Virgin Sun Grown (VSG for short). On the first few puffs, it hit me like a rock! The spice and power was incredible. I started to think that perhaps this was not a cigar I should smoke first thing in the morning, without food. As I continued to puff through the first few, the power seemed to settle down, and I got a lot of sweetness, and some nice floral notes. The ash was holding strong and straight, with no real signs of letting go. In fear of the ash falling in my lap, I went ahead and ashed into my stinky brand ash tray at this point.

2/3: As I continued on, the floral notes and sweetness continued to impress me, and the strength diminished, which was a welcome change, since this was a morning smoke. The sweetness and floral notes went great with a cup of black Jose’s Vanilla Bean coffee this morning. As I progressed on this portion of the cigar, the floral notes started to mix with some leathery and cedar notes. I was REALLY enjoying this smoke.

3/3: As I finished this cigar, the last third was still alot of floral, spice, and leathery cedar notes. Not much changed, but the flavor was still outstanding. I smoked this thing down to the nub, and enjoyed EVERY minute of it. I am really wanting to go smoke another, but I don’t think I will right now.

All in all, I give this cigar 4.5 out of 5 stars. The only reason it didn’t get 5 stars is because the wrapper started to crack on my once I was getting toward the nub. I HIGHLY recommend that anyone that has access to one of these, TRY IT NOW!

Nice review Scott! I haven’t had a chance to try a larger sized VSG. They sound great!
One of my favorite smokes. Great review.
