Description:
Today I’m smoking a cigar that I’ve been holding onto for a couple of months. Not for a special occasion, I just needed to put aside the time to enjoy it. Up for review is the Montecristo Sevens. These beautiful sticks are only rolled by level 7 rollers of Menendez y Garcia, insuring the best tobacco is used and combined with the best craftsmanship. They only come in Churchill, so make sure you have plenty of time before lighting up.

Construction:
The dark brown wrapper is smooth with very small veins. It is very firm the length of the cigar and upon clipping, the draw is a little tight. Once lit the draw loosens up a bit and produces a nice amount of smoke. Not thick, billowing clouds of smoke, but enough to suit me. As the cigar burned to the halfway point, the smoke got noticeably thicker.

Burn:
The burn was stayed fairly even throughout the entire seven inches. Any minor burn issues straighten out without the need of a flame. The ash was light gray and very firm.

Flavor:
The initial flavors were caramel, spice, cedar, and leather. As the cigar burned past the halfway point, the cedar flavor picked up and a very small amount of cream would surface. The last inch was dominated by cedar and spice.

Verdict:
I really enjoyed this cigar. It has a flavor profile that I enjoy and the construction is wonderful. The price point isn’t bad either for the caliber of smoke you get. The only drawback for me is the size. I don’t get the opportunity to smoke many Churchills. This one was close to the 2 1/2 hour mark. If it came in a robusto or a toro, I’d probably buy more. Similar cigars are Romeo and Julieta Viejo and Partagas Serie D #4. In conclusion, it is a very good cigar if you have the time to give it your full attention.

Great review. I’ve seen these around but never purchased one. I’ll have to see about picking up a couple.
