Alright, everyone, let’s finish the work week with a guest review from long-time Cigar Command reader tobacmon. He lit up a Padilla Miami robusto for us and had some good thoughts on it. I had done a Quick Time review on this quite awhile back and haven’t revisited this cigar in awhile. I agree with his thoughts. Do you?

Padilla Miami
Size: 5 X 50
Wrapper: Corojo
Binder: Cuban seed tobaccos from Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaraguan
Strength: Full

Pre-smoke
Scent of Wrapper: Cocoa
Scent at Foot: Tobacco
Appearance: Dark brown chocolate wrapper with one vein running from the head to the foot.
Wrapper: Very sweet looking brown wrapper with a triple cap
Feel: Very Firm
Tongue: Leather
Flavor on Draw: Earthy with hints of leather

Smoke
Taste: Earth, Leather and Spice
Flavor Changes: From the start it had a slight earth taste that picked up a strong leather and spicy flavor throughout.
Strength: Full Bodied
Feeling: This cigar really kept my interest all the way through. Very complex and very delicious smoke
Scent of Smoke: Slight smell of spice
Heat on Fingers and in Mouth: No heat at all
Draw: Easy draw with no burn problems
Finish: I really like the Miami line but this cigar has more of a sweet leathery taste that was outstanding and pleasing
Other Aspects of the Cigar Smoking Experience: Retro inhaled this cigar many times and each time I was very impressed with the taste and aroma. The only bad point is the price. At $7-$20.00 a stick I found this to be a bit pricey.

This was another triple cap cigar made known by some of the finest Cuban cigars made. The wrapper and taste was great and will always recommend to anyone looking for a great cigar.

I would rate this cigar as a “Great Cigar.”

I know its been a while since I put up a review, and Ricky and I both have been short on time lately. That being said, I thought it was time for a review, so here comes a quick time on one of my go to premium cigars, the Padilla 1932 Signature Robusto. I had one of these at my local b&m yesterday, and it had been a while since I had one, and I thought it was time to review one for our loyal readers.

On pre-light, it was firm with a little bounceback. I clipped it with my Palio cutter, and it cut effortlessly. The pre-light draw was effortless, with some oak flavors with the typical spice found in a lot of Padilla cigars. As I lit it up, the first thing I noticed was how easy it was to draw on this cigar. As I started to get into this cigar I got lots of smooth, oak flavors, with some spice, and earth undertones. The cigar stayed this way throughout the entire smoke, but they were all flavors I really enjoyed. The ash on this cigar was just about perfect and firm. The smoke was billowing, and the burn was just about perfect all the way through the cigar. My recommendation is that if you see these at your local shop, pick up some to keep in your humidor. While they are not overly complex to me, they are a very good smoke, and well worth the money.

I know its been a while since I put up a review here for you guys. Yesterday I was at my local cigar shop, and he got in a box of these Padilla Series 68 Robustos, and I have always been a Padilla fan, as well as a Pepin fan, as I like that spicy profile that they both give off. After I got done smoking it, I figured there was no better cigar for me to review for you guys, so here you go!

Appearance: This cigar was just about flawless. It was wrapped perfectly, and double capped nicely. It was a double banded cigar, but the way they put them both on, it was looking like one nice band. This was one beautiful looking cigar, and I couldn’t wait to get into it!

Pre-light: As I do with all my cigars, I ran this one across my nose, to pick up some smells. I got some nice leathery hints with some spiciness. I clipped the end of the cigar with my ever trusty Palio cutter, and it was perfectly cut as usual. At this point, I took a pre-light draw, and got those same flavors of spice and leather, with a few hints of cedar. It was looking like this was going to be no exception to my love for Padilla products!

1/3: As I lit it up, the first few puffs, in addition to giving me billowing smoke, gave me lots of cedar and leather flavors, with a small hint of peppery spice to follow. The flavors didn’t linger to long on the pallate but that might have had something to do with my libation of choice washing it down, a Mirror Pond IPA brew, which was going quite nicely with this cigar. The smoke continued to billow from this cigar, the draw was a little tight, but not so much that it was going to stop me from enjoying it. It was burning perfectly straight, and the ash was holding strong.

2/3: As I started to inch to the 1/2 way mark, I found myself really enjoying this cigar. I was trying to play darts with the owner of my home cigar lounge, but I found myself too engrossed in the cigar to concentrate on throwing darts, so I took a few minutes to savor it. I was enjoying it still. The leather flavors started to mellow out, and the peppery spice kicked up a notch. About the 1/2 way point, I decided to ash the cigar, as I didn’t want get ashes all over me. The cigar was still burning perfectly straight, and the smoke was still billowing nicely. I was really enjoying this smoke!

3/3: As I was finishing up this robusto, I was surprised how long it lasted. I started the cigar at about 11am, and I didn’t put it down until 12:30. The last bits of flavors I got from this cigar were lots of peppery spice, with some leather. It was fairly consistant over all. Not too complex, but it doesn’t need to be when it tastes this good! I really enjoyed it down to the end, and now that its getting close to over, I am wanting more. This was a good cigar, and I plan on picking up another one shortly.

Overall Impression: Overall, this Padilla product did not dissapoint me. Just like all Padilla’s other cigars, this one was a GOOD smoke. If you like spice, and leathery cedar flavors, I highly recommend picking one of these up.

Cigar Rating:

Tonight I was able to relax on the porch with my book and this fantastic corojo wrapped robusto. Shimmering in the light, the wrapper was oily and smooth. It lit perfectly and easily. The draw was sublime and each puff produced a bounty of sweet, smooth smoke. Starting with a tangy spice and leather on my tongue, eventually a sweet coffee taste mixed in. This tangy sweetness derives from the criollo binder and filler and is definitely a flavor profile that I really, really like. It burned smooth and perfectly throughout; I let the ash grow to two inches before tapping it off lest I end up wearing it. Being a rather pricy stick, these don’t frequent my humidor much, but I can tell you that I’ll be getting a few more for those special days when I just want that tangy sweetness.
